About Us
The ministry of Family Learning Center, a Christian Early Education Program, was
established to provide an educational experience in a warm and friendly atmosphere
for children 18 months to six years of age. Recognizing the importance for balanced
growth, our staff will provide many opportunities for the social, mental, physical,
and spiritual development of the child. The early education program was established
as a service to the families and children of the community. This service developed
from a sincere love for the children and a desire to help the children adapt and
succeed in our modern world.
The early education program is licensed by the California Department of Social Services
and comes under their authority. We are a member of the Association of Christian
Schools International (ACSI).
Family Learning Center maintains high spiritual and academic standards at all times.
Each component of our daily schedule includes the development of the whole child
-- spiritually, mentally, socially, physically, and emotionally. By creating an
environment based on Biblical principles, we are able to teach God’s Word through
curriculum, activities, relationships, and discipline. Spiritually, Family Learning
Center is consistent with the teachings of Family Community Church, but we are respectful
of and sensitive to the teachings of other evangelical denominations.
The program at Family Learning Center is based on a belief that God created each
child a unique individual with his own developmental timetable. We accept each child
as an individual, allowing for differences in skills and interests while encouraging
well rounded development in every facet of the child's life.
The primary source for learning in young children is through play, in which they
have an opportunity to explore the world around them and develop new levels of competence.
These play experiences enable children to organize and understand themselves and
their world. Because learning is an interactive process, teachers prepare an environment
in which children may learn through active exploration and interaction with adults,
other children, and materials. Understanding that children learn most effectively
when presented with concrete materials and activities, the curriculum is designed
to provide first-hand experiences in a variety of subject areas. We use the ABEKA
curriculum for all ages.
